I just spent a cuple of wonderful hours in the park together with my sister and some young family members. We were practicing the noble art of hapa zome!

Hapa zome is the technique of hammering plants, flowers and leaves to transfer them onto fabric. It's a very enjyable technique.

Hapa zome works best on light, relatively thin cotton or linen fabrics. We used old, worn-out sheets. Worn-out sheets are excellent to use when you practice hapa zome. The best is to put the plants between two layers of fabric. Like that you will get like a mirrored image and you won't crusch the flowers.

The bigger the hammer the better, it makes the plant-transfer a lot easier. It is also good to place a piece of half-soft wood (like pine) under the fabric when you hammer. You can also use a stone to hammer on the fabric but then there is a risk that the stone make holes in the fabric, but of course holes can sometimes be quite charming....

It looks great if you create different patterns with your leaves. You can create them like a mandala if you want to.
I have a lot of fabrics with printed hapa zome at home, now is my next challenge to make something out of it!
